EaRs gLuED tO: "Here you come again" by Clay Aiken
I am proud to be a Malaysian, or rather was proud to be one. Recent events happening in Malaysia has somehow put the flame of patriotism out, and killed the spirit. The fact that my country is being ruled by people with such narrow minded thinking is frightening to say the least. The childish emotions and much unappreciated comments displayed during the recent UMNO general assembly is a testament to that. It’s not only the public who are cringing at that display, but also foreigners who could have been potential investors. Any sane businessman would prefer to invest his money in another country more focused on developing its economy than in a country full of people busy squabbling.
Anyway, it’s not anger that I feel, more like disappointment. Reading those words spoken by certain politicians really killed whatever respect I have left for them, and left me feeling utterly disgusted. I just can’t understand where they got those funny ideas embedded in their head about other races.
I love Malaysia and I miss it lots. The variety of food, culture, language, way of life is second to none. We have a good thing going on, but I just don’t feel save anymore living in a country ruled by such people. I have always defended my country whenever my Chinese friends criticize certain policies, but for once my mouth is shut.
