It has happened. I have experienced my first night out pubbing. It was mild and harmless, nothing wild, no hangky pangky. I went to a pub. Now what's the difference between a pub and a bar? A bar is more subtle, where one can drink and have long chats.
But a pub...whoa, i can barely hear anything in there! Ear splitting music playing away by the DJ. And the dance floor, packed!! Kind of like a disco, with the heart thumping music and rotating neon lights. And yes, i did dance...emmm, i mean move around. Can't dance, nope. Must have looked like a penguin in distress. But the girls i went with, wow! They can dance really really well..
Anyway, didn't know many of the other students i went with. Just knew my flat mates. And i did not drink. That's my principle. Not even the mild drinks for ladies. Had mineral water instead.
We went there at 10.30pm and came home around 2.15am. In newcastle, the pubs have to close at 2am. So around 1.45, the police will be waiting outside the pubs to ensure that the pubs close on time as well as to avoide any chaos on the streets i guess. Cause by 2, most people would have gotten drunk.
So what's my verdict? I guess going to pubs are alright IF one goes with a group of friends to look out for one another. And in the group, most must not get drunk! That way, the sober ones can bring the drunk ones home.
Ya, a few people in the group i went with got drunk. Not a pretty sight. And drinking can be dangerous too. When i was leaving home, i did see some drunk british girls and they're not aware of their surroundings anymore. It's easy for slimy guys to take advantage of them.
I can see how addictive it can be. Drinking and dancing the night away, leaving your worries behind.
So what do i think about a night of loud music, dancing and breathing lots of second hand cigarette smoke? I think one night is enough for me...I'm such a bore!

I WANT TO GO!!!
*grins* I guess I don't club as I don't do the dancing bit... but pubbing... now that is a whole lot of different. And yes, it is addictive. Especially when you are out drinking with a group of good friends and you can just drink the night away. *sigh* I want more of those days... Try out the jazz bars. Its great, especially when they have good life bands.
And err... how can you go to a pub drinking MINERAL WATER?? And err... personally I don't think there is anything wrong with drinling... but hey... if that is your principle... I'll respect that. But *pokes* if you are ever in the mood, try Mai Tai... or err Yellow Submarine if they have it there.
