Visited the Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden today. Took an hours bus ride to reach from Newcastle city center.
Anyway, why there of all the places? Simple...I am a sucker! Reeled in by the Harry Potter craze. You see, Alnwick Castle was used as a location for Hogwarts school in the Harry Potter movies. That's a good enough reason ..for me, that is.
So, how was it? Awesome! Really felt the Harry-Potterish aura around the castle. Actually, the shooting was done in the castle grounds. So it's safe to say that I have been to a Quiddich field. Yippee!
Standing right there in the middle of the vast green, surrounded by the huge castle walls, transported me right into a Quiddich match. All that was missing was the house banners and goal hoops to complete the look. And of course my Nimbus 2000..whoosh, felt like soaring into the air. Ok, now i'm really getting carried away. Time to return to the ground.
Other than that, i also toured inside of the castle, which was not used in shooting. Not allowed i reckon, because visitors were barred from taking pictures in the castle. That got me imagining how nice it would be if i was royalty in the 11th century..sigh, a princess maybe? Or a fair maiden..but not a one in distress of course.
Enough about the castle! What about the garden? Well, even better..hehe. So calming, i don't know how to describe it...beautiful! Imagine...clear river(with ducks), sheeps grazing, cool breeze, ridiculously perfect green grass, all these stretching as far as the eye can see...i miss it already!
Took a walk through a wood as well. Trees on each side of the path, so tall where they form an umbrella above your head.
However, i think that i went at the wrong time, for the flowers have not bloomed yet.
Sitting in the bus(double decker!...i'm such a child) made me realise that in UK, there aren't many high rise buildings. Even in London.
Oh well, i'll go back to my daydreaming now...
