Picture of Newcastle city center. Place for shopping and stuff.
Err..this post does not really has anything to do with the hit US show Ugly Betty. Well, maybe a little bit, the concept of it i guess. I feel like Betty sometimes, in other words, i feel quite (very) unattracitve and ugly sometimes.
Why the sudden drop in confidence one might wonder. Maybe it’s because of the pimples that keep sprouting out from my oily face since I came to the UK and the dry lifeless hair, oh, and also the spectacles. Or maybe, just maybe it’s because I am surrounded left, right, top (but not bottom because I am quite short) by GORGEOUS European girls every day. Let’s see, of course it’s the latter! Arggg, how good looking can people get! I’m sooo mad (jealous???).
Seriously, most British girls look like they just walked out from a fashion shoot. Imagine, perfect makeup, sparkling teeth, Pantene ‘wind’ hair, boots, heels, STUDENT. Yeah, even the students resemble characters from The O.C.
That’s one thing that irks me the most…the hair. How did these people get such lovely hair? It’s very windy here in Newcastle, sometimes I feel as if I’m going to get blown away.
Anyway, back to the point. Somehow, when the wind blows, everything comes to slow motion….the shiny locks flies gracefully, there’s a slow tilting of the head, and then the hair just falls perfectly to place. Just like that.
As for me, I come out looking like I have just been through a tornado. Hair all over, in the eye, mouth, and it stays that way after the wind has passed. This is why I have learned my lesson to never spend 10 minutes every morning doing my hair, just to look like a mad woman by the time I reach the lab.
Sigh, it’s such a torture sometimes, surrounded by beauties, while I am so ordinary. Confidence level needs a boost right now. I am beautiful, i am beautiful...i need to keep chanting this every day..i am beautiful...does not seems to be working...darn. I'll try this one instead: Don't look at the mirror, don't look at the mirror

Never compare yurself to others. And not to forget, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. I'm sure there are a lot of others who think you are pretty :)
Just be confident and of course, be yurself
