eaRs gLued tO: 'Vindicated' by Dashboard Confessional
September is fast approaching. What are my plans after?
(thinks)
don't know...
anyway, i just realise that i am OLD. 24 years, and i still do not have my own career. Still not financially independant. Hmmm..
I didn't really realise this before. Maybe because it is normal to still be studying at this age back home.
I recently went for this 'talent spotting' cum interview event at this 4 star hotel. I would say there's around 25 of us. Anyway, most of the other job seekers are young, say..16 years old. Young, but full of confidence.
In that moment, i felt like an auntie! ...an old hag(evil witch laugh). Made worst by the discovery of white hairs on my little head recently.
Anyway, things are a little different here in UK. People value experience more. Now that i think about it, the majority of my coursemates are from overseas. Same case for Business school as told by my flatmates. So where do the British students go after they graduate?
Work.
To them, experience is more important.
Was told of this kind of hillarious interview by one of my coursemate. He was being interviewed for the position of a cleaner. And they asked him:
Interviewer: So, Mr So-and-so, do you have any experience?
If i was in his shoes, i think i would have answered:
Me: Of course!
I clean my own room weekly. I can vacuum, mop, sweep. And i occasionally clean
the kitchen as well. In fact, i can give you a cleaning demstration right now..
Well, needless to say, i wouldn't have gotten the job with that answer. And neither did my coursemate, since he doesn't have any 'cleaning' experience.
