EaRS gLueD tO: 'Silence is easy' by Starsailor
Finally managed to catch a show at the Sage Gateshead last weekend. It was awesome. I am still bowled over by it, by everything...from the spectacular venue to the performance. The Sage is truly a work of art. It looks like a glass shell from the outside and the hall inside is beautiful! I felt that i was sitting a little too far from the stage though. Got the seat at the very last row of the hall at the very most top level. Fortunately, i had a direct view of the stage cause i was sitting in the middle of the row.
The show was titled 'Sing Live at The Movies'. There was singing accompanied by the orchestra. I absolutely loved it when the orchestra was playing solo though.
The atmosphere was just right. It started at 7.30, but due to excitement, i was already there by 6.55. Lingered around outside the hall, watching the British enjoying their drinks before the show. Drinking is really a culture here!
However, the dress code is less strict here compared to The Petronas Philharmonic back home. Basically, there is no dress code and you are allowed to wear jeans here.
I would love to catch a play next. That would be in the Theatre Royal. However, plays tend to be a little more expensive compared to musicals. On average, a good seat would cost around £30. And there is no concessions for students for shows in the Theatre royal compared to the Sage(half price!). But i really really would love to catch a play...whine
Save, save!
