More on the Gateshead Millenium Bridge

Found out more today about the Gateshead Millenium Bridge. So i have walked across it...but i have yet to see it tilt! You see, when a ship passes, the bridge will tilt(imagine a close eye opening), and thus allowing space for the ship to pass.

Like this: this is how it looks when it is tilted. Notice the right side is pulled up. So ships can pass below it.














And this is how it looks when it is untilted. The right section is lowered. People can now walk across.
